Because I Love You: Delete (2:00pm-3:00pm EST)

Oftentimes, abuse can begin as subtle manipulation that’s difficult to detect. In an unhealthy relationship, “because I love you” is an example of a phrase that can take on a different meaning. As you will see in the film “Because I Love You – Delete,” some partners use statements of their love or affection as a means to control their partner, controlling aspects of their lives like who they can talk to or befriend because they “love” them.

Content Warning: This film explores examples of relationship abuse. It can be hard to watch even if you have not experienced abuse. Please feel free to step away, turn your camera off, or use other ways to care of yourself. We will hand out a resource list including organizations that you can reach out to for help.

Sexual Assault Survivor Virtual Art Exhibit (Noon and 6-8pm)

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Usually during this month resources and events are geared toward those seeking to support survivors - not necessarily survivors themselves. While we love the energy put out toward allies of survivors, we want to flip the narrative this April. Our Truth, Our Power aims to center survivors’ voices and stories through art. This exhibition is about knowing it is never easy to share your truth, but it is powerful to come together as a community and do it anyway. It is about knowing that our deepest source of power is honoring our authenticity. It is about knowing that when we uplift each other, we are able to heal together. It is about remembering that art is transformative, and creates the space for us to envision radical new worlds without violence. This exhibition is about our love for ourselves and each other.

Join Survivor Arts Collective in celebrating the 20+ survivor artists who submitted & the launch of this exhibition on Friday April 23rd, 2021 at 12:00pm EST. The link to the exhibition can be found here: https://www.survivorartscollective.com/ourtruthexhibition. Friday evening, join us to make art among the community, celebrate the artists & art of this exhibition, and maybe even dream up future offerings like this through Zoom. This zoom-based event will happen from 6:00pm EST - 8:00pm EST.
