Web Development Overview

Mission

The mission of the Web Development department is to provide the highest quality web support and assistance to facilitate the mission and core values of Nova Southeastern University. Web Development works collaboratively with other Office of Innovation and Information Technology units and other University departments to accomplish this mission.

Responsibilities

The Web Development department (WebTeam) builds and maintains the official NSU Web presence (nova.edu) in-conjunction with University Marketing and Visual Information Architecture and Interaction Design. In addition, we support all of NSU's 18 colleges and more than 100 business and program unit Web sites with official Web services such as Web design/development, site architecture, search optimization, Web accessibility standards, and overall content best practices.

Web Services

Content Management System

We maintain and support the official NSU Website content management solution (Cascade CMS), providing University content owners with access to content, training and documentation, and development needs to support all University official Websites. Review procedures for maintaining/updating Websites.

Mass Email Communication

The Web Development department processes mail email requests for the university through the use of the Blackboard Connect system. In conjunction with Public Affairs, the Web Development department has set up procedures for requesting and guidelines for submitting mass email requests.

Search Engine and Page Optimization

NSU utilizes the Google Search Appliance for searching all of our critical path sites. Google enables NSU to provide search services for content, regardless of the server on which it is housed. Review how to optimize Web pages.

Surveys or Polls

For assistance with creating Web surveys or polls for your college, department or program unit, please submit an OIIT Project Support request to Web Development. If you are seeking to build and administrate your own surveys and polls, please review the Opinio access procedures and guidelines.

Online Web Forms

For assistance with creating online Web forms for your college, department or program unit, please submit an OIIT Support request to Web Development.
