Receiving Mail & Packages

Mail Services typically receives one to two deliveries of USPS, FedEx, UPS and DHL mail/packages daily.  Amazon delivers multiple times per day.  All incoming mail, whether standard, First-Class, or small parcels, is typically processed within 24 hours- barring extreme volumes.  Please note, mail is not processed on weekends and University holidays.

Students will receive an e-mail notification to their NSU e-mail address when mail is ready for pick-up at the Packaged Locker System.  The e-mail notification received will list the sender as USPS LETTER MAIL.  

Mailboxes and Mailbox keys are not issued with the Packaged Locker System.  The students e-mail notification will contain a one-time use code that is needed to retrieve your mail.

Mail Forwarding:

All residential students should fill out and submit the mail forwarding form prior to leaving on-campus housing. The forwarding address provided is effective upon submission and will expire in 30 days.  Mail Services will only forward Letter Mail.  Packages will be returned to sender unless student provides a pre-paid label.  

NOTE:  Changing your forwarding address with Mail Services does NOT change your address with the Registrar's Office, Human Resources or any other department at Nova Southeastern University.

Shipping Packages Before Move-In: Beginning July 8, 2024, students may ship items to campus. You may ship a total of six (6) boxes in advance of move-in, to be delivered and/or picked up upon arrival. 

Shipping Packages Before Move-In DOES NOT APPLY to students living at University Pointe Apartments.

Please note: Mail Services will place large/oversized packages into the student’s room prior to move-in (refrigerators, linen boxes, etc.). To utilize this free service, please ensure all items are delivered no later than Monday, July 29, 2024. If you receive an oversized package after the deadline, you will receive an email notification with instructions to pick-up from the Commons package room, #115. You will only need to visit the package room if you receive an oversized item that does not fit into one of the lockers. All other items that meet the size requirement will be placed in a package locker.

NSU Mail Services is not responsible for mis-shipped or incorrectly addressed packages. Time-sensitive and valuable items should be shipped using USPS Certified or Priority Mail, FedEx, UPS, or DHL services.  These services will provide tracking information and confirmation on delivery times.

OFF CAMPUS HOUSING:  University Pointe Apartments Address Format – NSU MAIL SERVICES DOES NOT SERVICE OFF CAMPUS HOUSING.  All mail and packages must include the student’s legal first and last name (no nicknames), Street Address followed by Room Number (Building Letter and Unit Number).  University Pointe operates its own building management and mail package services.  Visit University Pointe online for building address information.

When ordering perishables such as flowers, specialty cakes etc. from a local bakery or florist, Mail Services recommends you utilize the following address format for delivery:

Deliveries are only accepted during normal Main Mail Room business hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM

Once perishable item is received, all communications from Mail Services to students is through student e-mail @mynsu.nova.edu for notification and to coordinate delivery or pick-up time.  Perishable items not picked-up after 5 business days will be discarded.
PLEASE NOTE:  Mail Services does NOT accept student food / grocery deliveries from delivery providers such as  Instacart, UberEats, Postmates, GrubHub, Delivery Dudes, Door Dash, Whole Foods, Walmart or any APP service that delivers groceries and or take-out food.  For these deliveries, students must plan to meet the delivery drivers for direct hand-off.  These delivery providers require students to provide their physical address in order to meet the student for direct hand-off.

All letter mail will be processed in the same manner as a package.  Mailboxes and keys will NOT be issued.  Items received will be tagged, inserted into a large envelope, and placed in a package locker.  Letter mail is received and sorted daily and will be put into a locker before the end of the business day.  The e-mail notification received will list the sender as USPS LETTER MAIL.

Please Note:  standard First-Class mail cannot be tracked and USPS does not provide a guaranteed delivery date.  Time-sensitive and valuable items should be shipped using USPS Certified or Priority Mail, FedEx, UPS, or DHL services.  These services will provide tracking information and confirmation on delivery times.

At Mako, The Commons, Leo Goodwin and Rolling Hills residence halls, we use a state of the art smart locker system to deliver both packages and student mail.  The package locker system is an easy and convenient way to pick up your mail and packages, anytime, 24/7!

Mail and packages are delivered and loaded into lockers multiple times a day. When an item is ready for pick-up, you will receive an e-mail to your NSU e-mail address. Please do not delete this email, as it contains one-time use codes that you will need to retrieve your items.

Once you have the email notification and codes, please proceed to the package lockers and follow the prompts on the touchscreen console. The locker will automatically pop open, and you can retrieve your mail and/or packages. Please note that if a student receives multiple packages, mail services aims to load one locker with all packages received.  Please ensure you check for multiple packages when picking up.  Please also remember to close the locker door once you've collected your items.
