This section will answer the most common questions from veterans, such as:

Freshman Applicant

  • 3.0 Weighted Highschool GPA
  • Highschool/Prior-Learning/Military Transcripts (JST, CCAF)
  • SAT: Mid-range 1000 - 1220 (Combined Math & Critical Reading Only)(Code: 5514)
  • ACT: Mid-range 22-29 (Composite) (Code: 6706)
  • Recommended Optional Items:

    • Volunteer Experience (Prior to or during service)
    • Letter of Recommendation (From a Superior)
    • Personal Essay (Why NSU?)
    • A Copy of Your Resume

Transfer Applicant

  • 3.11 College GPA Overall
  • Prior-Learning/Military Transcripts (JST, CCAF)
  • At least 24 College Credits*
    • *If less than 24 credits, submit highschool transcript and SAT/ACT scores. See above for details.
  • Recommended Optional Items:

    • Volunteer Experience (Prior to or during service)
    • Letter of Recommendation (From a Superior)
    • Personal Essay (Why NSU?)
    • A Copy of Your Resume

If you intend to use your benefits, a VONAPP must be completed ASAP.

  • To start your Veterans On-Line Application (VONAPP).

    • School Code: 001509
  • The VA will process your application within 6-8 weeks and mail out one of the following:

    • A letter requiring you to confirm which Chapter/GI-Bill you selected in your VONAPP, in order to receive a CoE.
    • A Certificate of Eligibility (CoE)

      • Once you receive your CoE, immediately hand deliver it to the VA Certifying Official located on the main campus in the Horvitz Administration Building.

Each year you can apply to receive free Federal financial aid. Filling out a FAFSA also allows access to Federal Work Study student employment positions.
