The Center for Student Leadership and Global Engagement (SLGE) works to help connect students to service opportunities that they are passionate about. We like to keep track of what service our students participate in and how they are helping Nova Southeastern University and the local community. In order to do this, we record the service events that an individual or organization attends.
Service at NSU is defined as: "Active participation in service addressing needs of the community through face-to-face and/or hands on volunteering that addresses a specific social need."
SharkHub is a key tool for recording students' community service involvement. Students can log their service experiences directly on their individual profiles, and even designate hours toward a student organization they belong to.
Logging your service on SharkHub offers several benefits: you can easily track your volunteer history throughout your time at NSU, and it helps our office understand the powerful impact students are making in the community.
Submitting Service Experiences:
In order to submit service hours, follow the protocol below and include all the necessary information as part of your submission. Your submission will be reviewed by SLGE and approved based on our definition of service. When a submission is accepted, a comment will be provided saying it was approved by SLGE with the initials of our staff.
Tracking Community Service as an Individual:
If you are not a member of a student organization or do not wish to necessarily designate your service hours to a specific organization you can still track your hours in SharkHub.

- Be sure to have the following information ready at the time of your submission:
- Contact information about your community affiliate
- Description of the event
- Date and times for the event
- Organization name that the event would count toward
All submissions will be reviewed and processed by the Center for Student Leadership and Global Engagement accordingly.
