Note: Only one online class (or up to three credits) per term is allowed to count towards the full course of study requirement for an F-1 student.
Undergraduate
- 12 credit hours minimum, 9 credits in face-to-face format required, in both fall and winter. Summer enrollment is required if it is your first term.
- Summer term enrollment is not mandatory as it is considered your annual vacation. However, enrollment is required if it is your first term and if it is a requirement from your program.
Master's
- 6 credit hours minimum (3 credit hours minimum during dissertation/thesis or qualifying exams)
- Important: If a program requires enrollment that exceeds the enrollment specified here, then the student must comply with the program specific policy.
- The summer term is the annual vacation for master’s international students, unless the program requires summer attendance. If summer attendance is mandatory, the student must obtain prior approval from the program before taking a summer break.
Doctoral
- 1 Doctoral level class (class cannot be online, but must be ground-based) or enrollment in dissertation/thesis or qualifying exam
