What is Convocation?
Convocation at Nova Southeastern University is the official welcome ceremony for new students and serves as the formal beginning of the academic year. This university tradition brings together incoming students, families, faculty, staff, and university leadership to celebrate the start of each student’s journey as a Shark. Convocation symbolizes the beginning of a student’s college journey, just as Commencement celebrates its completion. New NSU undergraduate students in attendance will receive their FREE official NSU Stole and first Shark Pin (students must be in attendance to receive their FREE NSU stole and pin).
All incoming students are encouraged to attend Convocation as part of Welcome Week and the official start of the academic year.
Convocation is considered an important university tradition, and students are strongly encouraged to participate.
Doors open at 9:00 a.m. Students should plan to arrive early to allow time for check-in, seating, and event instructions.
