Career Development User Agreement

As a user of this site:

  1. I agree to provide accurate and truthful information about my qualifications and educational background in my online profile, my resume, and any supplemental job-search documents I upload to the Handshake system.

  2. I will keep my profile information up to date, including my current contact information, email address, and academic major and class year.  If a current Nova Southeastern University student, I will use my @mynsu.nova.edu email address in my profile.

  3. I authorize Career Development to release my resume to employers I have selected via Handshake and On-Campus Recruiting (OCR).

  4. If participating in On-Campus Recruiting (OCR), I agree to abide by all OCR policies and procedures.

  5. I am responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of my login information and password.  I am responsible for all uses of my registration, whether or not authorized by me. If others use my password to access job listings or to post inappropriate material on the site, I risk losing my access to the site. In circumstances where Career Development suspects that account access information has been shared and unauthorized access has been granted to the system, I understand the policy is to immediately suspend all user privileges, investigate the situation, and possibly refer the case to the Office of Student Conduct.

  6. Career Development expects NSU students and alumni using Handshake (including on-campus recruiting, job postings, resume books, and career fair contacts) to honor their commitment and think carefully when accepting a job or internship offer. It is unprofessional and damaging to both a student's personal reputation and the reputation of NSU as an institution when an individual reneges on an accepted job offer. Please carefully consider all options before accepting a position, and, if in doubt about whether to accept it, consult with a Career Development advisor. Individuals who renege on a job or internship offer may face suspension of their Handshake privileges (including the on-campus recruiting program).

  7. I agree to the Disclaimer / Terms and Conditions.

Terms and Conditions

Your use of Nova Southeastern University’s Career Development services and the Handshake platform is deemed to constitute your binding agreement to the following terms. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use Career Development services or the Handshake platform:

The experiential learning, internship, and employment postings on the Handshake portal are provided as a convenience to Nova Southeastern University, Inc., (“NSU”) students and alumni (“user(s)”) seeking potential experiential learning, internship, and/or employment opportunities, and to businesses, entities, and persons seeking to post such opportunities.  Use of the Handshake portal and any consequences arising therefrom, including but not limited to, participation in experiential learning, internship, and/or employment opportunities, is solely at risk of the user.

NSU serves as a host for the Handshake portal; however, the businesses, entities, and persons seeking interns and/or employees are responsible for reporting the information contained in postings fairly and accurately.  The experiential learning, internship, and/or employment opportunity postings are not created or maintained by NSU, and NSU assumes no responsibility for the content of the postings.  NSU cannot and does not guarantee (a) the truthfulness, completeness, or accuracy of any posting; (b) the safety, quality or academic merit of any experiential learning, internship, or employment opportunity; or (c) the credentials of any person or entity posting information. Inclusion of any experiential learning opportunity, internship and/or employment posting on the Handshake portal does not constitute, and shall not be construed as:

  1. An endorsement or approval by NSU, it’s Trustees, Officers, employees or agents of the business, entity, and/or person, nor their business practices; or
  2. A warranty or representation by NSU as to the quality, integrity, legitimacy, safety, suitability, or other features of such listings, the businesses/entities, and/or its owners or agent(s).

Students and alumni using the Handshake portal assume all responsibility to investigate and evaluate the content of any postings on the portal, including, but not limited to, the bona fides and suitability of any experiential learning, internship, or employment opportunity, as well as, the credentials of any individual or entity seeking experiential learning students, interns and/or employees.  NSU shall not be liable for any claims, demands, causes of action, damage, or injury resulting from, arising out of, or connected with the information posted on the Handshake portal or the utilization thereof, including, but not limited to, participation in experiential learning, internship, or employment opportunities.

By using the Handshake portal, you agree to the terms and conditions stated above.

In the event of a dispute between one or more users of the Handshake portal or NSU Career Development, you release Career Development and Nova Southeastern University (and our agents and employees) from liability for any claims, demands, and damages (actual and consequential, direct and indirect of every kind and nature, known and unknown), arising out of or in any way connected with such disputes to the fullest extent permitted by law.

If you have questions or concerns about these terms and conditions, please discuss it with the Director of Career Development.
