Winter 2018 International Student Orientation (ISO)

Time: 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

Please arrive to sign-in between 1:00 p.m.–1:30 p.m.. The orientation will start promptly at 1:30 p.m..

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION REGISTRATION

Topics Include:

  • Introduction to the Office of International Affairs
  • F-1 Immigration Basics
  • Out & About in South Florida
  • Culture Shock & U.S. Interpersonal Communication
  • S. Classroom Culture
  • International Student Support: NSU Campus Resources Panel
  • Ask the Experts: Current International Student Panel

Optional Activities:

  • 5:00 p.m. Campus Tour
  • 6:00 p.m. NISA & Razor’s Edge Global Dinner

Join the Nova International Student Association (NISA) and Razor’s Edge Global scholars for dinner at the Flight Deck!  Learn about NSU by meeting other international students and students interested in global issues. All incoming Winter 2018 international student attendees will be provided with a $10 meal ticket voucher. Please bring cash to cover additional expenses.

  • What is NISA?

NISA is a student-run organization that strives to provide students with unique opportunities to interact with others of diverse backgrounds. The association also provides a "family" for all international students and hosts a variety of events. You are invited to get involved and become a part of this organization that has played an important role at NSU.

  • Who are Razor’s Edge Global Scholars?

Razor’s Edge Global (REG) scholars are domestic and international students who have a strong interest in global issues, international relations, global leadership, and cross-cultural understanding.  Participants in this innovative scholarship program have a deep desire to continuously improve their global awareness and leadership skills by sharing their experiences with the NSU community.

Important Notes:

  • International undergraduate students are also required to attend the a new student orientation:
  • International graduate and professional students may also have a required online or in person academic program orientation. Contact your admissions advisor or academic advisor for more information.
All NSU students on initial I-20s (including students who have previously studied at NSU) will need to also complete the International Student F-1 Check-In in order to have their SEVIS registration record and maintain valid F-1 status.
