New!! Priority Issues for 2017
Quality of Life Faculty Community-Based Applied Research Grants are awarded for proposals which fall under one or more of the following 6 categories: Autism; Criminal Justice; Children and Families; Adult General; Elderly Services; and Foster Care. Within these 6 categories are several top priority issues indicated by our community partners and/or obtained via countywide reports, which are currently significantly impacting Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County residents. See below for QOL's 2017 Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties priority issues:
Criminal Justice: Broward Sheriff's Office, Priority Issues for 2017
* Diverting youth from the criminal justice system
* Reducing gun violence/violent crime
* Programs that assist the homeless/mentally ill
* Crime prevention

NSU's School of Humanities and Social Sciences/Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution Professor Neil Katz and doctoral student Linda Flynn have authored the lead article in a recent issue of Conflict Resolution Quarterly (Vol. 30, No. 4, Summer 2013) a leading journal in the academic conflict resolution field. The Katz-Flynn article on "Understanding Conflict Management Systems and Strategies in the Workplace: A Pilot Study" was a result of research conducted within Broward County organizations and funded by an NSU Quality of Life grant.
