Public Relations Marketing and Creative Services

Randy brings more than 45 years of experience as a graphic designer and illustrator, with a career spanning corporate, educational, and design studio environments. His work has always been driven by a passion for clear communication, strong visual identity, and meaningful design.

While serving as Interim Director of Media and Institutional Relations at Carlow University, he led the creative development of recruitment and public relations materials during Carlow’s transition from college to university status. In this role, he reported directly to the president and managed in-house design staff, coordinated with writers and editors, and oversaw projects from concept through production—always ensuring they were delivered on time and within budget.

Throughout his career, he has developed branding and publication design for a wide range of institutions, including NASA, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Nova Southeastern University, Duquesne University, and Carlow University. From annual reports and viewbooks to donor publications and statewide initiatives like West Virginia’s Everyday nutrition guidebook for the governor's office. He has created materials that not only look great but serve real communication goals.

As an illustrator, Randy’s work has been published in Best of Colored Pencil 2, and has appeared in Pittsburgh Magazine, internal campaigns for General Mills, and was even acquired by Jim Henson Studios. He has produced technical illustrations for Westinghouse Energy Systems, Sunbeam/Oster, Samsung, GlaxoSmithKline Beecham, Fisher Scientific, and the Immune Tolerance Network, in collaboration with UCSF Medical School, Stanford University, and the National Institute of Health (NIH). One of his illustrations

—a color pencil portrait of Dizzy Gillespie—was a national finalist in The Artist Magazine’s illustration/ painting competition, selected from over 9,000 entries.

In his spare time, Randy enjoys woodworking, creating a variety of caffeine-fueled fish scuptures, cigar box guitars and decorative boxes. He also enjoys working on antique cars, biking, and spending time with his miniature daschunds, Ruby and Gracie.

Whether leading a team, developing a brand, or illustrating complex ideas, Randy bring a blend of creativity, discipline, and strategy to every project he takes on.
