The Grant Lab, in collaboration with other Division of Research & Economic Development (DoR) offices, supports many training series related to grantseeking and other research-related topics. Find out how to access future and past training materials below.

Grant Lab Chats

Grant Lab Chats is a "bite-size" grantsmanship series where each 30-minute session features a brief presentation on a finding funding or proposa/research development tip or resource, followed by Q&A with attendees. These events usually occur the 2nd Friday of each month from 12:15-12:45pm. Sessions are typically recorded for later viewing, so sign up to attend live and/or to receive the recording.


New Faculty Orientation (hosted by DoR)

Hosted by the Division of Research & Economic Development (DoR), New Faculty Orientation is an annual event in the Fall to provide faculty new to NSU with an overview of campus resources, personnel, and infrastructure related to supporting and enhancing their research programs. For inquiries, please email New faculty are automatically invited to these events each year.)


"Lunch and Learn" Grant Workshop Series

An annual Lunch and Learn series of 1-hour workshops (beginning each year in January) provides an introduction to grant writing and other research-related topics. These workshops occur on subsequent Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00pm. Sessions are recorded for later viewing, so sign up to attend live and/or to receive the recording.

"NSU Grant Education" Canvas Course

Recorded grant trainings are available on-demand each year to NSU faculty members on Canvas in a course called NSU Grant Education. Topics include finding funding, proposal writing, grant budgets, success with specific funders (e.g., NIH and DoD), reviewer panel, resubmission advice, post-award management, and others. Email to be added to this course. (Note: New faculty are automatically invited to this course each year in December/January.)


How to Access "NSU Grant Education" on Canvas:

  1. Go to, which will take you to Canvas
  2. Select "NSU Grant Education" from your list of courses
  3. From the left-side menu, click on "Modules"
  4. Here you can view the "Lunch and Learn" topics and access the PPTs, materials, and recordings from last year's sessions


*The materials/recordings from the "Lunch & Learn" workshops and "Grant Lab Chats" series will be accessible via Canvas through this course after each session concludes.
