Proper academic regalia are required for all candidates who participate in any NSU Commencement ceremony. NSU's customized regalia, which are blue in color for all baccalaureate candidates and gray for master's, specialists and doctoral candidates, are available exclusively through the NSU Bookstore. All candidates are responsible for ordering their own caps and gowns via the online portal accessible through their official commencement invitation. Only regalia purchased through the NSU Bookstore may be worn at NSU Commencement ceremonies.
The purchase price of regalia varies according to the degree attained. Undergraduate regalia cost $54.00. Master's/Specialist regalia cost $93.00. The regalia are yours to keep.
Doctoral candidates may either rent ($174.00) or purchase ($1,021.00) their deluxe regalia. Rented regalia must be returned to the bookstore or Shark Store within seven days after commencement. Failure to do so will result in a charge of the full purchase price. HPD candidates who are automatically charged for regalia in their last didactic course and do not pay the cap and gown fee are still required to order regalia through the NSU Bookstore online portal.

PLEASE NOTE: Rented deluxe regalia will not be available for shipping due to the process that requires a candidate’s signature at checkout. Rental regalia can be picked up at the NSU Bookstore, across from the Alvin Sherman Library, up until the day before your ceremony. On the day of commencement, regalia will be available at the Bookstore kiosk at the north entrance of the UC. Call the NSU Bookstore at (954) 262-4765 with any regalia questions or for hours of operation.
Regalia ordered after the ceremony RSVP deadlines listed below can only be picked up at the NSU Bookstore up until the day before commencement and at the Shark Store in the Don Taft University Center of the day of the event.
Candidates who purchase regalia and wish to have it shipped domestically must place their order no later than the final deadline of that particular commencement ceremony. Individuals requesting international shipping must allow a minimum 6-8 weeks for delivery. Shipping starts at $15.99 for regular ground and $28.00 for expedited delivery (contact the NSU Shark Store for more details).

Yes. Candidates will be reimbursed for the full purchase price of regalia prior to the commencement ceremony. No refunds will be given after the date of the ceremony.
Candidates who reside in either Miami-Dade or Broward County must return regalia to the NSU Bookstore, across from the Alvin Sherman Library on the main campus in Fort Lauderdale, with the original sales receipt. Candidates residing outside the area will be reimbursed once regalia has been returned along with the original sales receipt. Yes. All students are required to wear the NSU customized regalia available exclusively through the NSU Bookstore. These caps and gowns were created specifically for NSU; thus, you many not wear borrowed regalia or regalia purchased from alternate vendors. Please review order deadlines and delivery options described above.
