NSU Case Competitions

NSU Research Case Competitions Presented by the Center for Academic & Professional Success (CAPS)

Solve Real Problems. Build Real Skills. Make a RealCase Competition logo Impact.

Are you ready to tackle real- world healthcare challenges—and stand out to graduate schools, employers, and scholarship committees?

NSU’s Research Case Competitions empower students to create solutions for today’s most urgent health issues. Whether you're designing tools for post-stroke recovery, launching a wellness campaign, or accelerating autoimmune diagnosis, you'll be using research, creativity, and teamwork to make a difference.

What is a Case Competition?

Each case competition begins with a real or research-based healthcare challenge presented as a detailed case scenario, including background information and relevant data. Students form multidisciplinary teams of 3–6 members to analyze the problem, conduct research, and develop innovative, actionable solutions through a written proposal and/or solution product development.

The competition then moves to the presentation phase, where all teams share their work through virtual presentations or a poster symposium. In some competitions, top teams are selected to deliver live, in-person presentations to a panel of expert judges representing NSU faculty, healthcare professionals, and community partners.

This two-part format allows every participant to showcase both their research and communication skills, gaining valuable experience to prepare for healthcare careers and graduate studies.
