Orientation Guide

The Orientation Guide position is one of the most elite student leader positions at Nova Southeastern University. Orientation Guides have the distinctive ability to welcome over 1,000 new students, family, and guests into the NSU Shark community. From this student leadership experience, you will develop both personally and professionally and establish skills that will assist you for future opportunities.

We begin recruiting new Orientation Guides in early fall.

Information Sessions

August

Learn about the Orientation Guide position, expectations, and what it’s like to support new Sharks during their transition to NSU.

Application Period

Late August to Mid-September

Submit your application to officially enter the selection process and share your interest in joining the Orientation Team.

First-Round Interviews

Mid-September

Candidates are invited to a one-on-one interview to discuss strengths, experiences, and alignment with the Orientation Guide role.

Second-Round Interviews (Group Process)

After first round

Selected applicants participate in a group-based activity designed to observe collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Final Decisions

Mid-October

Candidates receive an official decision email with the next steps and onboarding information.

Commitments

  • Training Sessions
    Participate in mandatory training prior to the start of Orientation to prepare program facilitation, campus resources, student support, and team development.
  • Office Hours
    Serve designated office hours each week to support preparation, outreach, and operational needs.
  • Weekly Meeting(s)
    Attend all required team meetings for updates, planning, and continued training.
  • Team Bonding
    Participate in team-building activities designed to strengthen collaboration and maintain a positive team environment.
  • First-Year Orientation Sessions
    Work all three First-Year Student Orientation programs, assisting with check-in, session facilitation, and student support.
  • Summer Availability
    Serve in the Orientation Guide role from Mid-May to Mid-August (minus designated vacation days).
