Cap and Gown Information

Proper academic regalia is required for all candidates who participate in any NSU Commencement Ceremony. NSU’s newly approved regalia is blue in color for all baccalaureate candidates and gray for master’s, specialists and doctoral candidates. All candidates are responsible for ordering their caps and gowns directly from the NSU Bookstore vendor Oak Hall Cap & Gown. Only regalia purchased through Oak Hall are acceptable wear at NSU commencement ceremonies. If you have purchased regalia through another source, please reserve it for use on other occasions.

The purchase price of regalia varies according to the degree attained. Undergraduate regalia cost $51.00. Master’s/Specialist regalia cost $90.00. The regalia are yours to keep.

Doctoral candidates may either rent ($164.00) or purchase ($992.00) their deluxe regalia. Rented regalia must be returned to the Bookstore within seven days after commencement. Failure to do so will result in a charge of the full purchase price to the credit card on file. HPD candidates, who are automatically charged for regalia in their last didactic course, and Law candidates, who do not pay a cap and gown fee, are still required to order regalia through Oak Hall.

PLEASE NOTE: Rented deluxe regalia will not be available for shipping due to the process that requires a candidate’s signature at checkout. Rental regalia will be available for pick up at the NSU bookstore on the main campus in Davie, Florida, up to and including the day before commencement. On the day of commencement, rental regalia will be available for pick up at the BankAtlantic Center. Regalia ordered after the ceremony deadlines listed below must either be picked up at the main NSU Bookstore in the University Park Plaza in Davie, Florida (please check with the Bookstore for pick-up dates), or on the day of commencement at the BankAtlantic Center from the Bookstore's kiosk in front of Section 134.

Candidates who purchase regalia and wish to have it shipped domestically must place their order no later than the final deadline of that particular commencement ceremony. Individuals requesting international shipping should allow a minimum 6-8 weeks for delivery. Shipping starts at $14.50 for regular ground and $36.50 for next day (see the Oak Hall Web site for more details).

Grad Fair

The NSU Bookstore will host a main campus Grad Fair, April 24-26, 2012, from noon to 6:00 p.m. each day at the University Park Plaza. Personalized announcements, class rings, and diploma frames may be purchased. Additionally, representatives will be on site to photograph candidates in cap and gown regalia. The portrait sitting is free of charge and picture proofs will be provided with no obligation to purchase. A mini-Grad Fair that includes the opportunity for photographs and ordering announcements will take place at NSU’s Miami Student Educational Center on Saturday, April 14, 2012, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Call the NSU Bookstore at (954) 262-4750 for more information.
