Chemistry SI Leaders

CHEM 1300

Reid Simmons

Hey everyone! My name is Reid and I am SI leader for Chemistry. I am majoring in Exercise and Sport Science, Dual Admission DPT. I chose to be a supplemental instruction leader in order to help students be successful in rigorous coursework. I have always been an altruistic person who wants to lend a helping hand in any way I could. Being an SI leader gives me the opportunity to convey study methods and organization tips to other students so they can achieve a good grade. I’m also a physical therapy technician and have been a part of the pre-physical therapy club here at NSU. Some fun facts about myself are that I love to help the community through beach cleanups and community projects, I enjoy working out, and I’m always hungry.

CHEM 1300

Krina Patel

Hi! My name is Krina Patel and I am an SI leader for General Chemistry I. I am majoring in Biology.I chose to become a SI because I love meeting new students and being involved in helping them navigate challenging classes. I am a part of Children's Advocates and Locks for Cause. I'm a vegetarian, my absolute favorite drink is ginger ale and I used to live in Kenya as a kid.

CHEM 1300

Argenis Ferebus

Hi! My name is Argenis and I am majoring in Biology with a minor in Business, Public Health, and Pre-Health. I am an incoming senior international student from Venezuela in the Dual D.M.D Program, hoping to attend NSU’s College of Dental Medicine in the Fall of 2021! I am involved in organizations such as LAU, LASA, and MEDLIFE. When I was a kid, I aspired to be a professional soccer player playing in Spain. One thing I am bad with is time management such as turning in questionnaires in time. My two role models are my parents. They are super hard working and I wouldn’t be in the position I am now without their continued sacrifice.

CHEM 1300

Annabelle Terry

My name is Annabelle Terry, and I am an SI for Chem 1300 this fall. I am majoring in Psychology as of now, and I chose to be an SI leader because I didn’t want any student to feel like they had no help to turn to when struggling with classes. One on one tutoring can be intimidating and isn’t always a perfect fit for every student; SI allows students to get help without feeling singled out. One day I would love to be able to speak Italian, to be able to surf and play the drums.

CHEM 1310

Harsh Chheda

Hey everyone, my name is Harsh Chheda and I will be an SI leader for the Chemistry 1310 course next semester. I am majoring in Biology with minors in Business, Spanish, and Honors and I am currently in the Dual Admission D.M.D. program. I chose to be an SI leader because I was inspired by many SI leaders from my freshman year. I attended a few SI sessions and noticed how each leader was able to give advice and tips on certain courses that were very useful and I want to do the same for my students. I want to be able to provide resources and practice to ensure each student's success in their course. Additionally, I wanted to become an SI leader because I have always had an interest in teaching students. I want to pursue this interest through SI and demonstrate my passion for education and helping others. Currently, I am a part of two clubs: AAHANA Dental and the Student Research Society. I hope to use the leadership experience I have from both clubs to SI and ensure a successful semester for each and every student in my class. Some interesting facts about myself include that I play tennis in my free time and love the sport, I am really interested in cars, and I have a passion for exploring new places to eat. I hope that I can grow as a person and teacher through SI in the following semester and have a great experience.

CHEM 1310

Anjanna Reddy

Hi everyone! My name is Anjana and I am an SI leader for Chemistry 2 with a major in Biology on the pre-med track. I chose to become an SI leader, because when I first started college I struggled with finding the most beneficial study methods for each class. When I started attending SI sessions hosted by my General Biology 1 SI leader, they were able to help me revise my study methods so that I was being time-efficient, while also learning the material in the best way. I want to help struggling students in this way as an SI leader by acting as a resource that can help them effectively learn the material for the course, not just in our sessions, but on their own as well. I am currently part of Junior Pediatrics and the Indian Student Association. Additionally, I do research with one of my past professors, where we are studying the presence of volatile organic compounds in people with periodontal disease. My favorite U.S. president is Abraham Lincoln. The best class I’ve ever taken is Anatomy and Physiology. The last book I read was Educated by Tara Westover.

Dr. Farrar is an amazing professor and I was able to view medicine from a completely different perspective. I would want to have dinner with Salvador Dali and pick his brain about the meaning behind his art. I've always wanted to learn ariel silk acrobatics.

CHEM 2400

Evelyn Casas

Hi my name is  Evelyn Casas. I am an SI leader of Organic Chemistry I. I am majoring in Biology with a Pre-Dental Track. I chose SI as an academic support role to help students learn content better by believing in themselves and trusting fellow peers to find the answers to material in difficult courses in a positive and encouraging learning environment. I am the Recruitment Chair for Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc., I am a member of President's 64 and I am part of Razor's Edge Shark Teach. I am ambidextrous (I have proficient dexterity in both hands). A show I could watch over and over again without getting bored is Criminal Minds. My favorite author of all time is Oscar Wilde, so much so I named my car Dorian Grey.

I used to be a professional ballet dancer, having lived in Russia for four years, but now I am striving to either become a reproductive endocrinologist or obtain a PhD in Chemistry. I am the Community Service E-Board Chair in the Junior Pediatrics club on campus. I am also an insurance adjuster for property claims and animal/nature enthusiasts who love to do yoga!

Hello! My name is Rishabh Kasarla and I am a Junior at NSU pursuing a Biology major. I am from Edison, NJ. On campus, I am part of the Scientific Honors Society, Medlife, and the TriBeta Honors Society. I chose to do SI because I love teaching and I think it is the best way to review what I already learned. A fun fact about myself is that I am a magician and I won NSU Got Talent 2019.

CHEM 3650

Neha Chintapally

Hi! My name is  Neha Chintapally and this semester I will be an SI leader for Biochemistry. I am majoring in the  Dual D.O Program; Biology and Behavioural Neuroscience.
