Daren Capirchio is a proud Rhode Islander and joined NSU in 2008 in the Office of Residential Life and Housing. From 2010-2017 he served as Associate Director of Residential Life responsible for departmental leadership, resident assistant selection and training, crisis management, judicial affairs, and program development. In July 2017, he became the Director of the Center for Student Leadership and Global Engagement and is responsible for the overall development of our leadership, civic engagement and service initiatives. Additionally, he works closely with our Razor’s Edge Leadership program where he serves as the program coordinator, mentor, and adjunct faculty member in the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice.
He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and Painting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and his Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Outside of his role in Student Leadership, he is a practicing fine artist and a member of the fine arts adjunct faculty here at NSU and at Broward College instructing Drawing, Painting, and Art Appreciation.
