Senior International Student Advisor
Although she was raised in Puerto Rico, Deborah was born in New York City. In 2002, Deborah and her family moved to Florida where she soon began working as an Administrative Assistant at Nova Southeastern University in the International Student Office. She rapidly learned the appropriate laws and procedures pertaining to non-immigrant students and scholars and was promoted to the Student and Exchange Visitor Compliance Coordinator.
Several months after that, she was promoted again to International Student & Scholar Advisor where she currently works with an international population of over 1,200 students. She holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, a Master’s in Cross Disciplinary Studies, and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, she is a Certified Solution Focused Coach. Deborah is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (IMT 2607) and has facilitated workshops in topics ranging from LGBT issues to intimate partner violence (IPV).
She was also a featured TED Speaker at Nova Southeastern University where she spoke about gender and cultural issues.
Outside of her professional role Deborah enjoys spending time with her family.
