Office of Budget Administration

The Office of Budget Administration plays a vital role in Nova Southeastern University's financial health by overseeing the entire budget lifecycle. This includes:

• Budget Development and Management: The office collaborates with the NSU Budget Committee to create, develop, and maintain the annual operating budget. This budget is then presented to the University Finance Committee and Board of Trustees for approval.
• Financial Monitoring and Reporting: Throughout the fiscal year, the office closely monitors actual revenue and expenditures against the approved budget. They generate monthly reports for key stakeholders, including the President, Deans, Vice Presidents, and Finance Committee.
• Ensuring Financial Integrity: The office works collaboratively with the Office of Innovation and Information Technology to maintain robust security measures for the financial records system. They also manage the Chart of Accounts, including opening, closing, and freezing accounts as needed.
• Streamlined Expenditure Management: The office maintains authorized signatures on file, processes general encumbrances, and verifies budget availability for check requests and purchase orders. Additionally, they handle budgetary transfers and revisions throughout the year.

The Office of Budget Administration goes beyond basic budget management. They actively research and prepare various materials for projects that support strategic decision-making. This includes projects focused on performance measures and benchmarking NSU against comparable public and private universities.
