Overview

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Resource Center seeks to strengthen and enrich the NSU community through engagement opportunities, educational programming, vast cultural experiences, and provide support for traditionally underrepresented student populations to cultivate a continually sensitive and unified campus environment.

Meeting meaningful goals for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is key for the success of the NSU community. The DEI and B Office is committed to promoting diversity and inclusiveness on campus, and to providing a safe, supportive workplace for all students. We will recognize and thoughtfully consider our differences to foster an environment that consistently offers the following:

  • Diversity: Demonstrating acceptance and respect for self and others, including but not limited to age, color, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, ability, sexual orientation, and/or socio-economic status.
  • Equity: The creation of opportunities, systems, and structures which remove barriers and close gaps in outcomes for those from historically underrepresented groups.
  • Inclusion: Active, intentional, and ongoing efforts to create a culture of community where individuals feel welcome, valued, and supported.
  • Belonging: Full membership in the NSU community, not only in formal participation but an affirming sense of community with inclusive people, physical spaces, and organizational structures.
