Online Orientation

Online Orientation is a web-based program conducted through Blackboard to reach our online student population and introduce them to the NSU community. The program is designed to help ease the transition of starting your online classes at NSU.

There are various learning modules within Online Orientation. These modules focus on informing students about the history of the institution, campus traditions, student services, academic expectations, financial services, and technology and library resources. All modules offer students a connection to enrich their learning experience.

Please note that if you are an online learner based within the state of Florida, and live near one of the NSU's six Student Educational Centers (SEC) or the main Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus, you are welcome to attend a face-to-face orientation. If the face-to-face orientation is your preference, please contact us at orientation@nova.edu and we can assist you in registering for the program that best fits your location and needs. NSU has SEC locations in Miami, Fort Myers, Orlando, Jacksonville, Palm Beach, and Tampa.

The online orientation program will be uploaded into your SharkLearn on August 14, and be live until September 14, 2013. You may log-on anytime within that time period to complete the online orientation. During the first two weeks of the semester, we will be hosting a live orientation sessions through SharkLearn. We will announce those dates by July 1, and reach out to all online students through email to make you aware of that option as well. You must complete your orientation by September 14, 2013.

NSU values the information students learn through their new student orientation, and recognizes that students who complete orientation are more successful at NSU. We want you to be a successful student, and we look forward to assisting you through your orientation experience.
