A Message from Nova Singers President
“Always keep a song in your heart!”
To the special friends and supporters of Nova Singers….
The vision, dream and perseverance of Director Emeritus Peggy Joyce Barber allowed something quite wonderful to form many years ago. Under Peggy’s guidance and direction has blossomed a chorale which has traveled throughout the eastern United States and Europe bringing joy through song to many people. We’ve had some wonderful experiences together which is why our Nova Singers Family is so strong.
Our 40th anniversary celebration will begin in June 2015 with special concerts planned. We will partner with some local choirs including the Florida Singing Sons. We are currently fundraising for a trip to eastern Europe to sing in world famous venues – what a thrill!
As exciting as the activities above sound, none of it would take place without our supporters and friends in the communities of Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade. Your generous financial support covers many of the expenses we have such as personnel, music, rental expense for our rehearsal venue, and concert venue set-up and take-down. We have been blessed with many talented and committed people in our group who are able and willing to see that every task is completed and nothing left undone. The passion of each singer to present a first-class musical experience for our audience is what provides the drive for us to complete the tasks including learning the music.
This all-volunteer group of singers practice together only once weekly. For some of us, participation is an avocation – we have careers in non-music professions. But many of our singers are professional performers, musicians and educators in some of the finest school programs and churches. There is a plethora of talent under one roof.
We audition new singers the Tuesday before Labor Day each year, and you are encouraged to do so if you are interested in joining Nova Singers. If you are not quite sure, you are welcome to visit one of our rehearsals to “see what it’s all about.” Occasionally, new singers are accepted at the beginning of the winter and spring terms as well. Please watch this website for more information.
Thank you again to our wonderful partners, and please always keep a song in your heart. .
With warmest regards,
President, Nova Singers
