NSU’s Vision 2020 states that
“By 2020, through excellence and innovation
in teaching, research, service and learning, NSU will
be recognized by accrediting agencies, the academic
community, and the general public, as a premier not-for-
profit university of quality and distinction that engages all
students and produces alumni who serve with integrity in
their lives, fields of study, and resulting careers.”
A central tenet to this vision is attracting, retaining and
enhancing outcomes of the best qualified students for
NSU.
During the fall of 2012, a multi-disciplinary team of over
30 individuals from across the university’s colleges,
schools and centers reviewed the current undergraduate
recruitment and admission processes, selected graduate
recruitment and admission processes, and both current
and available supporting technology environments.
Several areas for improvement were identified including
• Process roles and phases not clearly defined,
• Process measures not clearly defined, consistently
collected and transparently reported,
• Business rules and communication plans for recruit
contact are informal and inconsistent,
• Multiple recruit contact points and manual handoffs across
different schools and business units without coordination,
• Inefficient work flows, and
• Redundant software systems requiring accurate interfaces
and synchronization for timely availability and use.
Several short term and long term process and technology
recommendations were proposed by OT2T, supported
by the multi-disciplinary team, and accepted by NSU
executive management. The recommendations have
been incorporated into the RAE 2020 Program.
