International students are an important part of the NSU community. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS), along with the Office of New Student Orientation, help students make the transition from their home country to life at NSU and in the United States. OISS provides services that help international students and scholars to successfully navigate the United States immigration process.
International Student Orientation is designed to introduce you to the institution to ensure that you are aware of services and resources available. International Orientation is series of special workshops for international students. On this day, we will be going over Visa, I-20, and Social Security information, as well as employment options, local community resources, and adjusting to life and customs in the United States.
We have specifically designated the International Orientation program to be the weekend before classes begin so that it conveniently corresponds with many international students travel arrangements to arrive in the US. All international undergraduate students are required to attend an orientation session. If you do attend an earlier summer freshman or transfer orientation program, it is still important that join the International Orientation program for the August 22 portion.
Please identify yourself as an international student when you place your orientation reservation for any of the sessions.
For more information regarding this workshop, please contact the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) at 800-338-4723, ext. 27242, or at intl@nova.edu.
