Cardiac Sonography Certificate Program
Florida Residents Only
In May 2014, NSU will offer a Certificate in Cardiac Sonography for practicing sonographers in the state of Florida. This hybrid 12 month certificate is designed to prepare practicing sonographers for the cardiac registry exam. The courses will be delivered in a hybrid format, with online courses and on campus lab sessions in the evening or weekend. Clinical externship is offered during the last two terms of the program.
Graduates will be eligible to take the national examinations for the cardiac registry as administered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
Physicians, physician assistants, nurses and other health care professional interested in obtaining the cardiac credentials from ARDMS or CCI may apply. However these professionals must have the SPI exam passed as minimum requirement if they will apply of the RDCS credential with ARDMS.
- Provide sonographers already working in the field with the knowledge, skills, and clinical thinking leading to the acquisition of the credential in cardiac sonography.
- Provide sonographers with the opportunity to sit for the examination to obtain the RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) credential from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or the RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) credential from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
