College of Optometry (CO) 2023–2024 97 College of Optometry Administration Linda Rouse, O.D., M.B.A., FAAO Dean Room 1404/Ext. 21404 The dean is the chief academic and fiscal officer of the College of Optometry (CO) and is responsible for all aspects of the academic and clinical program including the college-operated clinics in the Eye Care Institute. The dean oversees the activities of all subordinate administrators and faculty members and is referred matters that cannot be addressed by the associate dean, department chairs, or administrators. Cristina Llerena Law, O.D., Ph.D., FAAO, Dipl-ABO Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Room 1406/Ext. 21406 The associate dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for the academic programs of the CO. The associate dean monitors students’ performance in all aspects of the professional program, is responsible for the evaluation and enhancement of the quality of faculty teaching, and performs additional duties at the direction of the dean. Jamie Althoff, O.D. Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions Room 1410/Ext. 21410 The assistant dean for Student Affairs and Admissions is responsible for all optometric student affairs and interfaces with all student optometry groups. The assistant dean also supervises the admissions process and is in charge of student recruitment and retention. Bin Zhang, M.D., Ph.D. Assistant Dean for Research Room 1494/Ext. 21450 The assistant dean for Research is responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of research initiatives. The assistant dean supports faculty members in their research and scholarship goals. Gregory Fecho, O.D. Chair, Optometric Clinical Sciences Room 1434/Ext. 21434 The chair ensures the educational administrative implementation of didactic courses and labs that fall within the optometric science department and is responsible for interacting with faculty members and students for these courses.
