Page 19 Students are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette that includes: • Be polite. Do not get abusive in messages to others. • Use appropriate language. Do not swear or use vulgarities. • Do not reveal your personal address or phone number or those of other students or colleagues. • Note that email is not guaranteed to be private. Students may communicate with faculty and staff members using their NSU/NSU University School email addresses only. • Do not use the network in such a way that you would disrupt the use of the network by other users. • NSU University School makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the computer service it is providing. NSU University School will not be responsible for any damages you suffer. This includes loss of data resulting from delays, non-deliveries, mis-deliveries, or service interruptions caused by its own negligence or your errors or omissions. Use of any information obtained via NSU University School online systems is at your own risk. NSU University School specifically denies any responsibility for the accuracy or quality of information obtained through remote online computer services. The student user must be aware of the legal and moral responsibility for ethical conduct in the use of technology. Student users of Nova Southeastern University’s computer systems are subject to all applicable federal, state, and international computer laws. A copy of the Florida Computer Crimes Act and referenced Florida State Statutes may be examined online or in a student’s academic program office. In addition, a student accessing any of Nova Southeastern University’s computer systems, whether a multiuser, time- sharing system or a single-user terminal or personal computer must: • have proper authorization for use or attempted use of accounts within the Nova Southeastern University computer systems • limit the use of Nova Southeastern University computer systems to academic activities as defined by the student’s academic program office • refrain from attempting to tamper with or obstruct the operation of Nova Southeastern University’s computer systems • be aware that accessing or using another person’s computer account without that person’s permission is illegal and unethical • refrain from any attempt to use Nova Southeastern University’s computer systems as a means for the unauthorized access to computer systems outside the university’s systems • be aware that the use of invasive software, such as worms and viruses, that are destructive to hardware, software, or data files is illegal and unethical • be aware that using Nova Southeastern University’s computer systems to act or behave in a rude, obscene, or harassing manner will be dealt with by appropriate university policy, procedures, and agents • use only legally obtained or licensed data or software in accordance with its license or purchase agreement • be in compliance with federal copyright laws and the Nova Southeastern University copyrights policy NSU TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF INTERNET USE These Terms and Conditions of Use contain legal obligations. Please take the time to read them carefully. NSU maintains a Wi-Fi and wired communications network (collectively the “NSU Network”) and makes it available for public use. The following Terms and Conditions of Use apply to all users of the NSU Network: 1. Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of Use. By using the NSU Network, users acknowledge that he or she has reviewed and accepted, without qualification, to be bound by and comply with these Terms and Conditions of Use and any other NSU guidelines or policies. If a user does not accept these Terms and Conditions of Use, the user is not authorized to use the NSU Network. NSU may amend the Terms and Conditions of Use in its sole discretion by posting the changes herein and within applicable NSU policies and guidelines. Use of the NSU Network after a change has been posted herein or implemented within an NSU policy or guidelines constitutes acceptance of the changed terms. If a user does not desire to accept modified Terms and Conditions of Use, the sole remedy is to refrain from using the NSU Network.
