This is not possible if sexual harassment exists. Sexual harassment is a type of discrimination. It means that someone is treated differently because of his or her sex. It is behavior or words that include, but are not limited to, unwelcome sexual advances or unwelcome physical contact; requests or demands for sexual favors; verbal abuse or a derogatory statement that is sex-oriented; or intimidation, hostility, or other offense via sexual connotation. It is important that students not ignore such actions. Students are encouraged to take appropriate action by telling the harasser that the behavior is not acceptable and should stop. Students are encouraged to document any type of behavior and report it to the administration. A confidential investigation will follow. NSU University School complies with state statutes related to child abuse of any kind. Any person who knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect, that a child is abused, abandoned, or neglected by a parent, an adult other than a parent, legal custodian, caregiver, or other person responsible for the child’s welfare, shall report such knowledge or suspicion to the department of children and families (DCF). Fla. Stat. 39.201(1)(b) GENERAL COMPUTER USE POLICY NSU University School students are recognized as a part of Nova Southeastern University. As such, NSU University School students are expected to adhere to the Nova Southeastern University Acceptable Use Policy and Student Code of Computer Ethics as described below. NSU/NSU UNIVERSITY SCHOOL ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY We are pleased that Internet access is available to students and teachers at NSU University School of Nova Southeastern University. Our goal in providing this service is to promote educational excellence at NSU University School by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication. With Internet access also comes the availability of material that may not be considered to be of educational value in the context of the school setting, such as chat rooms, adult-oriented sites, hate groups, etc. NSU University School has taken certain precautions to restrict access to inappropriate material. NSU University School firmly believes that the valuable information and interaction available on this worldwide network far outweighs the possibility that users may procure material that is not consistent with educational goals. The smooth operation of the network and the computer systems attached relies on the proper conduct of the end users who must adhere to strict guidelines. These guidelines are provided here so that you are aware of the responsibilities involved. In general, this requires efficient, ethical, and legal utilization of the network and computer resources. If a NSU University School user violates any of these provisions, NSU University School reserves the right to take necessary action. Use of the computer resources of the school is a privilege, not a right. Violation of the terms and policies may result in disciplinary action. Students who wish to use the wireless network must register their technology at the Media Center. Students must register their device at the start of each school year. Accounts will NOT be automatically renewed from year to the next.
