3 Pi Theta Epsilon Beta Delta—Tampa Pi Theta Epsilon Beta Delta Tampa Chapter: St. Catherine Challenge Silent Auction by Cheryl Mae Granada, OTD-S Annually the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) hosts a nationwide fundraiser for occupational therapy (OT) programs with the purpose of raising funds to build the evidence base of OT research. Pi Theta Epsilon Beta Delta Tampa (PTE BDT) honor society participated in this fundraiser by coordinating a silent auction, in which donat- ed items are auctioned and introduced first online via a Google document and lastly on the day of the live event which took place on Saturday, 3 of February. Though the virtual auc- tion started slow in the first two weeks the live event was a success with attendance, bids, and money raised. The event took place during lunch hours at Nova Southeastern University-Tampa campus and hosted pizza, soft drinks, and music for a $5 donation that additionally went to the St. Catherine Challenge. Members of PTE, OT students and professors attended the event and donated an eclectic array of items from scholarly textbooks and second hand lab clothes to basket arrangements for pets, movie nights, and spa day essentials. Bids were close for many basket items between students and professors and in the end the organization sold over 25 donated items and raised over $500 toward the cause. PTE BDT is recognized at the bronze level of fundraising organizations by AOTF, placing Nova Southeastern University- Tampa on the recognition list for the first time. The PTE research and education pillars were highlighted through this successful fundraising event led by the treasurer Lydia Fritszche and her committee.
