The first teaching hospital between Miami and Orlando, West Palm Hospital has been actively involved in osteopathic medical education since it was founded in 1975. With an experienced, motivated, and energetic teaching staff, West Palm Hospital boasts excellent didactics in addition to strong clinical rotations with ample opportunity for hands-on experience. West Palm Hospital is the base for our internal medicine and dermatology (combined with internal medicine) training programs. Palms West Hospital: Palms West Hospital is an acute-care facility with a modern envi- ronment for training, which has partnered with Miami Children’s Hospital to provide onsite emergency services. Palms West Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Palms West cur- rently host PBCGME’s residency training program in pediatrics. St. Lucie Medical Center: Located a few miles inland from Atlantic beaches, St. Lucie Medical Center is a comprehensive health care facility serving Florida’s vibrant and rapidly growing Treasure Coast community. The first teaching hospital on the Treasure Coast, St. Lucie Medical Center is the base facility for PBCGME’s emergency medicine, family med- icine, and traditional rotating internship programs. University Hospital and Medical Center: University’s Psychiatric Pavilion is a freestand- ing, state-of-the-art behavioral health facility, which features four units with 30 semiprivate patient rooms, cafeteria, gym, pool, and indoor and outdoor group areas. University Hospital and Medical Center hosts PBCGME’s Psychiatry Residency Training Program. The Psy- chiatry Pavilion has more than 60 patient rooms. West Palm Beach VA Medical Center: Our primary major training affiliate, the VAMedical Center, is an integral part of PBCGME’s internal medicine, dermatology and psychiatry res- idency programs. The Palm Beach Consortium for Graduate Medical Education (PBCGME) is an AOA-ac- credited consortium comprising seven different programs based out of four acute inpatient hospitals affiliated with HCA, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of health care services. With nearly 1,000 in-patient beds, over 47,000 admissions, 24,000 surgeries, and 150,000 ER visits, the facilities of PBCGME offer a wide variety of clinical exposure opportunities. We have been training osteopathic physicians for over 30 years with an emphasis on team- work and professionalism. The PBCGME leadership team comprises graduates of our programs, affording them a true understanding of our residency experience and vested interest in our programs’ successes.
