In this session, the content of Chapter 4 will be discussed. Chapter 4 is critical to demonstrating competency in the analysis of data, which is a skill that every researcher must possess. The discussion will focus on how to present the results in order to accurately and insightfully describe the research outcomes. These outcomes are indispensable to the completion of Chapter 5. Quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research studies will be described to demonstrate how students can be effective in analyzing and presenting their results. This session also will address the nature of the content of the final chapter of the dissertation. The presentation will identify the specific elements that should be included in this chapter, as well as ideas on how to structure the information required under each of those elements. The presenter will provide ideas, through examples, on how to organize and write the discussion chapter while avoiding potential pitfalls in its preparation. Topics addressed in this presentation will include interpreting results, relating the findings to the existing literature, arriving at conclusions, discussing the implications of the findings and the limitations of the research, and providing recommendations for further research and practice. Concentration Area Dissertation Sessions Sessions are offered in 11 doctoral concentration areas. In these workshop sessions, students will learn about topics and procedures that are typical and appropriate for a FSE dissertation in that particular concentration area.
