Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship is one of the few U.S. colleges with the word entrepreneurship in its name. That wasn’t an accident. The Huizenga Business College prioritizes passion, innovation, vision, creativity, and daring. All are entrepreneurial characteristics essential to dominating in the global economy. More than 40 years ago, the Huizenga College of Business pioneered field-based education by developing the cluster concept, making business education accessible to working professionals. Today, our students come from a diverse cross section of society— culturally, demographically, and professionally. HCBE offers the Huizenga Business Innovation Academy program. This unique program accelerates learning centered around innovation and entrepreneurship and awards both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in four years. Also, graduates can compete for a $20,000 grant from the university if their business plan is approved and the funding is used to start the business. In fall 2022, HCBE launched new master’s degree programs in finance and digital marketing that are guided by a sustainability mindset and focused on a framework that considers the environment, society, and government. Further, the programs illustrate and reveal the balance of company profit, while considering other elements, including people and the planet. HCBE also launched two new master’s degrees focused on business agility and innovation and professional practice management. Additionally in fall 2022, HCBE added a major in the business of health to the B.S.B.A. program. This major prepares graduates for an immediate career in health care after the bachelor’s degree or entry into medical school. HCBE offers a range of optional majors to enhance the core M.B.A. curriculum. The complex health systems major focuses on the business of health care—the intersection of technology, research, and innovation to provide business solutions. The business or “flex” major allows students to customize their M.B.A. experience by choosing five courses from a menu of almost 100 subjects. The entrepreneurship major is designed to assist students in gaining the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become successful entrepreneurs. The curriculum and experiential learning process teaches students to think, while the term project and testing process will improve analytical and writing skills. The Master of Accounting degree prepares students to pursue the Certified Public Accounting credential and the M.S. in Human Resource Management delivers course material that allows students to create and manage systems that support the human element of any company. The major in business intelligence/ analytics, process improvement, and supply chain management are STEM designated and focus on big data and the growing demand for companies to analyze and store data more efficiently allowing them to make better business decisions and gain a competitive advantage. The M.S. in Real Estate degree provides the skills necessary to be successful in commercial, residential, and other real estate development. H.
