128 NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY University Students and Graduates Nova Southeastern University has educated signifi- cant numbers of minority students when compared to other colleges and universities in Florida and across the country. The following facts (using the most recent IPEDS data available) place NSU’s contribution in some perspective: n The university is ranked 9th in the United States for the largest number of minority Master’s and Doctorate degree recipients among those degrees awarded in 2020–2021. n As of fall 2020 (the most recent data available from the National Center for Education Statistics), NSU was the largest, private, not-for-profit institution in the United States that meets the U.S. Department of Education’s criteria as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. n For fiscal year 2020–2021 (the most recent IPEDS data available), the university ranked 1st in first- professional/doctoral degrees awarded to all minority students and to Hispanic students, and 5th in graduate degrees awarded to Black/African American students.
