2023 NSU Fact Book

2023 FACT BOOK 111 During the last five years, enrollment has remained steady, with a slight increase from fall 2018 to fall 2022. (Figure 1 and Table 1). The most recently available IPEDS data show that, in fall 2021, Nova Southeastern University had the largest total fall-term enrollment of all private, nonprofit universities in Florida. Moreover, of more than 1,600 private, four-year, not-for-profit institutions nationally, Nova Southeastern University ranked 22nd. When compared with the total number of students enrolled at Florida nonprofit, private four-year institutions in 2020, 11.1 percent were enrolled at Nova Southeastern University. Recent Enrollment Trends After reaching a peak enrollment of more than 29,000 students in fall 2009, changes in the economy, undergraduate admissions standards, and educational demands in certain areas have driven a period of steady enrollment reductions to 20,435 students in fall 2018 (Figure 2), although enrollment increased marginally in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Similarly, full-time equivalent (FTE) has also increased from 17,101 in 2018 to 18,301 in 2022 (Figure 3). Undergraduate enrollment increased 30 percent from 2018 to 2022 (Figure 2). This pattern is also reflected in FTE (Figures 3–4).
