Students are coached on how to further explore their major while developing a competitive résumé and cover letter, refining individual interviewing skills, selecting an internship, applying to graduate school, and supporting overall career planning needs. In addition, students have access to Handshake, a cutting-edge career platform that serves as a career one-stop shop. Tutoring and Testing Center The center supports the academic progress of all NSU students. The center provides supplemental learning assistance and an array of testing services. It assists students in meeting their academic goals with one-onone tutoring across the disciplines, evening study labs, supplemental instruction, academic success coaching, testing, and study resources. Office of Student Academic Services This office oversees various programs in support of undergraduate students and the undergraduate aca- demic programs. It supervises all aspects of the Dual Admission Program and works in collaboration with partners in NSU’s graduate/professional programs to support the transition of undergraduate students into these programs. It also oversees the Presidential Scholars program, the Razor’s Edge programs, and the Office of Student Success—which oversees a mentoring program that matches our premier students with select incoming students, providing additional resources and support. The office facilitates and communicates academic progress standing to students on a trimester basis, oversees all related communication with students and academic programs, oversees academic integrity and the reporting and communi- cation processes related to academic misconduct cases, and manages the process providing support to students experiencing academic and administrative challenges by acting as a liaison to other departments and resources university wide. The office also oversees the development of the undergraduate student catalog in collaboration with representatives from academic and administrative units, as well as manages the undergraduate convocation program and several aspects of the undergraduate commencement program. Office of Residence Life The office provides students with a safe and encouraging living environment that promotes community and personal development. Opportunities—both formal and informal—are presented to NSU residents through academic, cultural, social, leadership, and recreational programs. The university’s residential community is supported by a staff of full-time, live-in professionals, paraprofessionals, and student assistants who are available 24/7. We have well-maintained halls dedicated to first-year, second-year, and upper-division students. There are opportunities for apartment style, suite style, and studio apartment living. Office of Campus Life and Student Engagement (CLSE) This office is home to the Student Events and Activities (SEA) Board; the Inter-Organizational Council (IOC); the Diversity Student Council (DSC); Fraternity and Sorority Life; the Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA); the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Resource Center (DEIB); and more than 150 registered undergraduate student organizations. The office hosts and sponsors university-wide events, such as the Student Life Achievement Awards (Stueys), Sharkapalooza, Homecoming, Waves of Welcome, and CommunityFest. CLSE is also responsible for our Sharks on the Scene (S.O.S.) Program, which offers students exclusive discounted tickets to some of the largest events in South Florida. In addition, the DEIB serves as a catalyst for the recognition and coordination of the celebration of our diverse student body. It offers resources, support and inclusive programing activities. CLSE plays a key role in assisting students in developing an affinity to NSU through engagement in organizations and activities related to their interests.
