Nova Southeastern University | 19 Did You Know? NSU’s College of Dental Medicine is proud to announce the expansion of its D.M.D. program to its Tampa Bay Regional Campus. The 39-month Advanced Standing Program for International Dental Graduates (IDG) will increase the program’s enrollment to 35 international dental graduates per year and now be housed on the Tampa Bay Regional Campus in Clearwater, Florida. The 19,000-square-foot space will house a 64-chair, student clinic; a simulation lab; and dedicated, supporting offices and classrooms. The curriculum offered at the Tampa Bay Regional Campus will be the same as the college’s current D.M.D. program. Delivery of instruction will be accomplished through a combination of videoconferencing, lecture capture, and on-site lectures and labs. These capabilities are already in place and being utilized by other NSU HPD programs. The Tampa Bay Regional Campus has the capacity to simultaneously videoconference live lectures on the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus. The on-site faculty and Office of Information and Innovation Technology personnel will monitor large group lectures at the campus. The clinical and preclinical skills programs will replicate the program provided at the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus. In addition to the state-of-the-art, fully digitalized facility that the campus offers, the surrounding communities have the potential to provide NSU’s IDG students with a robust patient population, ensuring students have the ability to achieve a competencybased, comprehensive-care patient experience. The Tampa Bay area also has great potential for community rotations that will provide NSU-CDM students with the opportunity to acquire additional experiences with selected special-needs populations. Advanced standing studentsmust demonstrate the same standards of competence that their programcounterpartsmust meet to earn an NSU-CDMD.M.D. degree. This is evidenced by passing outcomes onmultiple formative and summative assessments to showprogress toward attaining competency and ultimately demonstratingmastery of those competencies.
