Congratulations
Nova Southeastern University looks forward to welcoming families and
friends to the 2012 Commencement ceremonies that recognize and
celebrate the academic achievements and lasting contributions that our
students have made to the university.
ATTENDANCE & ELIGIBILITY
Candidates who have achieved degree conferral since last year’s commencement
exercises and prior to this year’s ceremony dates are automatically invited to participate.
Each
d
etermines its “participation requirements.” When in doubt, check
with your program office or visit its commencement Web site for clarification on the
requirements that must be met in order to be invited.
FORMATION OF ACADEMIC PROCESSION
The academic procession, consisting of candidates, participating faculty, Board of Trustee
members, and NSU administration will assemble one hour before the ceremony begins
and be led in by the grand marshal at the start of the ceremony. All candidates will be
grouped by school/program and will receive an index card to write their name as they
would like it to be read on stage.
SEATING & TICKETS
The doors of the BankAtlantic Center (BAC) will open one hour prior to the published start
time of the ceremony. No tickets are required for commencement. Seating is open on a
first-come, first-served basis. We recommend that large groups of guests wishing to sit
together arrive early b
e
ot permit the saving of seats.
SPECIAL NEEDS
We encourage
candidates
who need disability accommodations to notify the Office of
Student Disability Services at (954) 262-7185 at least two weeks in advance of the event.
Candidate’s
guests
may seek special needs assistance from the BankAtlantic Center Access
Service Center, which is located at the Guest Services Center on the Plaza Level. All guest
disability access inquiries should be directed to the BAC at (954) 835-8269. Individuals
should bring their own or rented wheelchairs or walkers if they have limited mobility.
Wheelchairs and other such devices will not be provided by the BankAtlantic Center.
Wheelchair-accessible seating is available for guests in Sections 102, 104, 107, 109, 112,
115, 117, 119, and 134, which is easily reached from the main plaza area. Only one guest
may accompany those who require wheelchair-accessible seating so as to secure enough
seats for all of our guests with special needs.

DIPLOMAS
At commencement, candidates receive a certificate of congratulations when called to the
stage and are recognized. To make sure you receive an official diploma, go online and
complete an Application for Degree/Diploma at
/instructions.html.
RECEPTIONS & EVENTS
Colleges may host receptions and other special
events related to commencement. Please contact
your program office directly for more information.
HPD SENIOR AWARDS
DINNER & DANCE
The Health Professions Division (HPD) conducts
senior awards dinners prior to its August
commencement ceremony. Each graduate may
bring one guest at no charge.
Tickets are non-
transferrable.
Additional guests are always
welcome to attend at a cost of $85.00 per person.
The August dinner will be Friday, August 22, 2014,
at the Signature Grand in Davie, Fla., for College of
Health Care Sciences (except Physical Therapy) and
College of Nursing graduate students. Once open,
reservations are accepted until Friday, August 15,
2014.
The evening affair features a wine reception and
sit-down dinner, followed by music and dancing.
Business attire is suggested. Information
concerning your RSVP and dining choices is
supplied with your online invitation and
Commencement Participation Form (CPF).

FORMATION OF ACADEMIC PROCESSION

by program in the RecPlex on the second floor of the UC and will receive a card to write
their name as they would like it to be read on stage. The faculty robing area is the
Performance Theater on the north side of the UC, directly across from the Alvan Sherman
Library.
CEREMONY CLOSING
To signify the closing of each ceremony, the president will ask candidates to rise at their
seats for the conferral of degrees. HPD graduates will recite their professional oaths. Degree

Commencement ceremonies are usually less than three hours in length.
At the conclusion of commencement, all will stand while the Grand Marshal leads the stage
party from the arena, followed by the candidates. Guests are asked to remain in their seats
until everyone has left the floor.
