During the recent Town Hall meetings, one of the most
frequent requests has been for the establishments of a
university wide Unified Calendar. With great pleasure, we are pleased
to announce that OI2T is now working on such a solution. Currently,
there are over 30 public calendars in use at the University. When events
targeted at similar audiences are scheduled at the same time using dif-
ferent calendars, it
creates an unintended conflict that causes each event to be less suc-
cessful. At present, in order to find out when certain events are sched-
ules, one needs to be aware of the existence of a particular calendar
and how to access that calendar.
The Unified Calendar will allow information providers, with the proper
authorization, to enter information once and make it available to multiple
audiences via multiple views and
formats. Access to the system will be available from any device, any-
where and anytime. This system will permit the consumers to search
for and display particular events from any view and any calendar. When
Active Directory has been successfully deployed for all of NSU, we will
Improvements to the
iShark App
Since the successful launch of the NSU IShark
app in March 2012, we already have 2,500 active
users! We have taken the many comments and
suggestions for improvement and incorporated
them into the the new app, scheduled to be re-
leased this quarter. As a result of close collabo-
ration among several teams, this new release will
feature an updated course catalog that will be
consistent with the information now provided on
the Farquhar College of Arts and Science web-
site. In addition, the new release will incorporate
NextBus, which will allow users to access shuttle
routes in real time. It will be possible to see when
the shuttle is approaching! Another exciting new
feature, the Giving app, will provide direct access
to the Institutional Advancement giving Web
page, thus encouraging and facilitating alumni
participation.

ences.
