HD Video Conferencing
On campus and on the go! Video conferencing technology is used on a daily basis to facilitate
classes, meetings and special events at NSU, bridging the gap between main campus, the
Student Educational Centers, and off site locations.
FUN FACT:
Consumer Reports
say new iPad can
reach a temperature
of 116 degrees.
Current capabilities:
HD and non-HD fixed videoconferencing
classrooms/conference rooms,
portable videoconferencing carts, and
video conferencing software used by
some academic programs to connect with
students at their homes on their personal
PCs from an NSU video conferencing
classroom.
Proposed 2 phase upgrade:
The 1st phase (in progress) is the upgrade
of our videoconferencing infrastructure
to support HD videoconferencing and the
Polycom RealPresence application.
The 2nd phase (starting April 2012) will be
the upgrade of all non-HD videoconferenc-
ing classrooms to HD videoconferencing
systems and HD displays (projectors &
TVs). This upgrade will enable NSU to pro-
vide a true HD videoconferencing experi-
ence to students, faculty, and staff here on
campus and on the go.
Benefits of upgrade:
Provides the capability to support videocon-
ferencing on portable devices via the Polycom
RealPresence application available for the Apple
iOS iPad 2, iPhone 4S and the Android Motorola
Xoom, Droid XYBOARD 10.1 by Motorola, and the
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets.
This application is free to download from the
Apple App Store and the Android Market , works
on both Wifi and 3G/4G networks, and allows us-
ers to connect to videoconferencing classrooms,
meeting rooms, PC based videoconferencing
software, and other users while on the go.
