Modern Campus Accessiblity Checker
The website is designed to meet accessibility requirements as established by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Sections 504 and 508, which is why it is important not to change any source code. NSU’s goal is to make the website as accessible as possible to as many users as possible. PRMC uses tools included with Omni, as well as SiteImprove, to evaluate the NSU website against current guidelines.
Keep in mind:
- Heading tags should be sequential (H1, H2 and not H1, H3)
- Hard returns should be <p> not <h> tags
- Images require alt tags
- Audio or video require captioning or transcripts
- PDF documents should be properly formatted for screen readers
- Descriptive link text ("Read More about Prof. Smith" vs. "Read More")
-
Whenever possible, documents should be converted into web copy to maximize accessibility. If that is not possible documents should be designated as such, ie:
- Business Curriculum (PDF)
- Timesheet (XLS)
