Student Affairs provides ongoing programming opportunities that are interesting and educational, as well as inclusive and family-friendly. Upcoming events, such as those listed below, are displayed on the homepage of each Regional Campus under Upcoming Events.
Each Regional Campus holds a “Class Celebration” at the end of the academic year for graduating students. This event provides an opportunity for students to be recognized for their achievements and involve their families, peers, and colleagues who may not be able to attend the Commencement ceremony in South Florida. These events include dinner or a reception and a short program recognizing the graduates with a special gift.
Family “Fin” Day is a special event at each Regional Campus that involves NSU students and their entire families. Each Regional Campus hosts a different program held at different recreational facilities local to the Regional Campus community. Some past events have included Jacksonville Zoo, Wet n’ Wild Water Park, Tropical Park, Family Fun Center, and the West Palm Beach Zoo. Be sure to contact your Student Affairs Assistant Director to learn more about Family “Fin” Day at your Regional Campus.
NSU Nights Out are opportunities for NSU students and staff to learn, socialize, and network outside the classroom and into the community. NSU Nights Out are done throughout the semester and involve a night of fun and exciting entertainment which enables students to meet NSU students off campus at little to no cost. This program fosters new friendships and opportunities to become involved with your Student Government Association and the community. Past NSU Nights Out have included trips to the symphony, ball games, karaoke, theatre, restaurants, and charitable organizations.
Student Appreciation Days involve Student Affairs acknowledging the students at their sites and letting them know they are valued. During these events, important information and treats are given as a way to encourage students to continue doing a good job and succeed as NSU students.
Dine & Learns provide students with an opportunity to continue their education outside of the classroom. These programs vary in subject and cover specific topics of interest. They are designed to give students personal help. For example, topics can cover subjects such as, Grants and Scholarship Information, Online Learning Guides, How to Write an APA Style Paper, and many more. Dine and learns also provide attending students a light meal.
What better reason to celebrate than by observing all kinds of holidays? At each site, the Student Affairs Assistant Director and their Student Government Associations (SGA) work together to create memorable holiday parties at each site. Check your Regional Campuses monthly calendar to see what you’ll be celebrating next. In addition, students are encouraged to suggest holidays to celebrate at their respective Regional Campuses.
