Graduate Assistant Positions and Job Descriptions
The Division of Student Affairs and the College of Undergraduate Studies are comprised of 23 departments and offer approximately 35 graduate assistantship positions. Note: Positions may become unavailable at any time.

Apply for a Graduate Assistantship
Apply for the Master of Science in College Student Affairs (CSA) program.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Only CSA applicants will be considered for graduate assistantship positions. All applicants must:
- complete and possess a bachelor's degree by July 1, 2024 to be considered.
- apply and be accepted and enrolled in the M.S. in College Student Affairs (CSA) program.
Once a candidate has applied to the M.S. in College Student Affairs program and the application has been confirmed, an NSU Student Affairs representative will reach out. Our 2024-2025 school year priority deadline is December 8, 2023. We will be hosting in-person interviews in January (date TBD).
After their interview, candidates will fill out a preference form and receive their assistantship match before signing an agreement.
M.S. in College Student Affairs Program
Practicum Requirement
Graduate assistants in the Master of Science in College Student Affairs program must complete two semesters of practicum. Students are required to do two practicums, one during the summer between their first and second year and the other in the fall semester of their second year.

Frequently Asked Questions
At this time graduate assistant positions are only for candidates that are accepted and enrolled in the Master of Science in College Student Affairs program in the NSU Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice.
Yes, international students on F-1 visas are eligible to be graduate assistants. Graduate assistants in F-1 status may never work more than 20 hours a week while classes are in sessions. Per federal regulations, F-1 students must be enrolled in a full course of study every fall and winter semester and all students working on campus (including GAs) must also meet the Office of Student Employment’s full-time enrollment requirements.
Additionally, any individual who is classified as a “Non-Resident Alien” (NRA) by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be subject to a 14% tax on all scholarships issued for the purposes of non-qualified expenses. Qualified expenses are tuition, fees and books. International students with additional questions may contact the Office of International Affairs at intl@nova.edu.
