GOLDEN GLOBES RECORD BROKEN
By Kara-Beth Yaquinta, Jan. 9, 2017
Records were broken at the 2017 Golden Globes by the film La La Land, starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and John Legend. The film is actually a romantic musical/comedy (I know, I was surprised to find out it was full out musical too) about an aspiring musician and actress who meet in LA, then of course fall in love. The film beat out the 1975 release, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, who previously held the record for 6 Golden Globe wins. La La Land was nominated 7 times and swept them all.
Some categories in which the film was nominated was best musical/comedy film, best actor and actress (won by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone), directing & screenplay awards were won by Damien Chazelle, Justin Hurwitz won for best score, as well as, best original song along with Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for “City of Stars.” I guess you can say it was a night of grandeur for all who had part in the film.
