ADA COMPLIANCE NSU University School of Nova Southeastern University complies with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. No qualified individual with a disability shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in any activity, service, or program of the NSU University School solely by reason of his or her disability. Each qualified individual with a disability who meets the academic and technical standards required to enroll in and participate in NSU University School’s programs shall be provided with equal access to educational programs in the most integrated setting appropriate to that person’s needs through reasonable accommodation. Requests for accommodation will be considered on an individual basis. Although NSU University School’s mission statement provides for educational programming based on learning styles and personalization, there are times when a child’s learning profile may require further diagnosis, recommendations, and alternative methods in order that he/she meet with success in the Lower School. In keeping with state and federal guidelines, if a child requires accommodations based on a qualified and diagnosed need by a qualified professional, parents are to contact administration for the appropriate documentation and request forms. On the forms, parents will need to request and explain the specific accommodation that has been documented, as well as provide the official examiner’s report of that documentation to the school. If there is disagreement with the accommodation(s) proposed by the school, the family may appeal in writing within five days of receiving the accommodation response to the NSU University School’s ADA Committee to discuss the appeal and possible resolutions. The decision of the committee is final. NSU University School encourages the parents of children attending this institution with limitations or disabilities to contact us so that we may assist in evaluation of their children’s educational needs. When appropriate, NSU University School will assist in reasonable accommodation. ASBESTOS HAZARD NOTIFICATION The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act was passed by Congress in response to concerns about materials containing asbestos in buildings.
