77 4. laying, wrestling, groping with a child; piggy back rides, tickling, clinging 5. massage given by child to employee or vice versa 6. any form of affection unwanted by the child or the employee 7. compliments that relate to physique or body development MISTREATMENT OF MINORS It is the intent of the NSU University School to protect all its minors from mistreatment and abuse. The university will not tolerate any form of mistreatment or abuse of its children. Persons who are found to engage in any form of abuse or mistreatment will be dealt with swiftly and vigorously. All allegations will be promptly and thoroughly investigated by the proper authorities. The NSU University School maintains a zero tolerance for abuse towards minors. All allegations of abuse and mistreatment will be promptly and thoroughly investigated by the appropriate authority. In accordance with Florida law which makes mandatory the reporting of child abuse, the administrator will report such knowledge or suspicion to the Department of Children and Families at the statewide toll-free hotline: 1-800-96- ABUSE. REST ROOMS/CHANGING In the event that children’s activities require them to change clothes, a staff member should be stationed outside the facility. This staff member will monitor the children making sure they enter and leave in a timely manner. PORNOGRAPHY The access, display or possession of pornography on university property or university equipment is strictly prohibited. Any staff or child found in possession of pornographic materials will be reported to the school administrator. SUSPICIOUS OR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIORS In cases where reports of inappropriate or suspicious behavior are suspected, the NSU University School will respond swiftly and decisively. The suspicious or inappropriate behavior will be discussed with the staff involved. Feedback will be provided to the staff member and progressive disciplinary procedure will follow if necessary. All steps taken during this investigation will be documented. Two levels of administration will be required to review and sign the documentation. A designated person will be assigned as the contact person in this matter. A corrective plant of action to prevent a reoccurrence will be developed. For allegations of suspected abuse, the administrator will respond immediately to the allegations. Confidentiality will be extended to all parties involved. The alleged perpetrator will be placed on administrative leave, with pay, until the completion of the investigation. The alleged perpetrator will be informed that she/he will not be allowed to have contact with any child until the completion of the investigation. The alleged victim
