73 Appendix E: Department of Children and Families: Mandatory Reporting DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES The following three-part DCF policy will apply to NSU University School dealings with DCF cases. It serves as supplement to and in conjunction with teachers, ethical and moral obligations regarding suspected DCF needs as required by law. 1. If a DCF agent appears at the school, the school will not interfere with the DCF investigation. No calls will be made to parents during or after the DCF visit. 2. If a teacher or employee is being investigated by DCF, the school should call the parents of the children who are questioned by the DCF agents. The school will not interfere with any DCF investigation. 3. Anyone who has a reason to suspect child abuse or any other form of neglect or area in which DCF is responsible has the obligation and the right to contact DCF. Such a person is not required to seek approval from peers or supervisors, but may request counsel with a teammate or administrator if necessary. 4. SEE APPENDIX E
