3 INTRODUCTION FROM HEAD OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION NSU University School is governed by the leadership of Nova Southeastern University. The school operates as a center within the university. The Head of School of NSU University School reports to the Vice-President of Academic Affairs, and ultimately, to the President of Nova Southeastern University. The Head of School serves as a dean on the Dean’s Council, the administrative cabinet of the university. The Head of School works with a select body of NSU University School stakeholders via the Head of School’s Advisory Board comprised of parents of currently enrolled students PK – 12 th grade, who serve as an advisory group only, holding no fiduciary or other responsibility beyond that of providing consultative suggestion. The president of the Head of School’s Advisory Board also sits as an ex-officio member of the Nova Southeastern Board of Trustees. As part of Nova Southeastern University, NSU University School enjoys many benefits including use of resources and assets such as the Sherman Library, recreational venues such as the new University Center, and the Miniaci Theater. In addition, all NSU University School employees benefit by being able to take classes and courses at NSU at discounted tuitions or free of charge. Various departments within the university offer no-cost tangibles that include self- help sessions, workshops, seminars, health and wellness opportunities, technology trainings, multiple professional development series, and recreational activities. Under the leadership of the Head of School, two Associate Heads, one for Academic Affairs and one for External Affairs, work with the building directors (principals),organizational directors, associates, and program directors. The school is organized into three academic divisions each with its own building administration as follows: Lower School – School Director, 3 Associate Directors Middle School – School Director, 2 Associate Directors Upper School – School Director, 3 Associate Directors Other individuals, all of whom report directly to the Head of School or his associate designees, are responsible for major aspects of school operations, and are considered members of the senior administrative team. These include, but are not limited to the directors of technology, student academic support services, summer programs, development, admissions, and business operations.
