27 chaperones make personal plans except with the consent of the person in charge of the trip. The drinking of alcoholic beverages at any time during the trip is just as much out of place as during the regular school day. Smoking is prohibited in the presence of students. A curfew should be set by chaperones and all members of the group notified. The time should allow a reasonable amount of time after the close of the last event. Events should not be planned to last after 11:00 p.m. and the curfew should not be later than 12:00 a.m. Chaperones should never retire until all students are checked in for the night, all visiting between rooms has stopped and the chaperones are reasonably sure that the groups are quiet and in their rooms. Students should engage in school activities of a group nature only. Under no circumstances should social dates involving students be permitted. When a student is assigned to a group, he/she is to remain with the group at all times unless he/she has made special prior arrangements. Students should return with the group unless other traveling arrangements are made prior to the time of departure. No student should be permitted to visit relatives or friends while on a trip without previous arrangements of his/her parents with the director or the chaperons in charge of the trip. Students should wear appropriate clothing at all times. When any mixed group travels at night, a curfew hour will be announced by the chaperones and after this time there should be segregation of sexes. If more than one group from a school is going to the same activity, all should adhere to the same general regulations. USE OF BUSES 1. The seating capacity on most school buses used for educational field trips is 59, however, consideration should be given to the size of students and length of the trip when determining the number of buses needed. 2. Lower School- Students must be provided with buses that provide seat belts on all field trips. 3. Travel will begin and end at the school. Students will not be picked up or let off at other locations. 4. Travel is permitted to the places and areas designated for the field trip only, chaperones should not alter itineraries on the fly. 5. Only those students who are official members of the class or group, their sponsors and chaperones are permitted to travel on the school bus.
