21 SCREENING/FINGERPRINTING REQUIRED: As per Section 1012.465, Florida Statutes, now states (amendments underlined): The statute, as amended, applies to two categories of either non-instructional or contractual personnel, all of whom must meet Level 2 background screening requirements, including those: 1. Who are permitted access on school grounds when students are present, 2. Who have direct contact with students, LEVEL 2 BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIRED: Non-instructional employees or contractual personnel Non-instructional employees or contractual personnel who are permitted access on school grounds when students are present, who have direct contact with students must meet Level 2 screening requirements as described in s. 1012.32, F.S. Contractual personnel shall include any vendor, individual, or entity under contract with the university. Examples might include food preparation and service personnel, custodians, electrical repairmen, etc. Any volunteer or guest who would have one-on-one contact with a student, will need to be fingerprinted Level 2. Any volunteer or guest who would have contact with a student or group of students without the supervision of a school staff member, will need to be fingerprinted Level 2 Overnight Volunteer Chaperones / Volunteers in School /Clinic Volunteers/Volunteer Coaches/Tutors/Observers, Chaperones for overnight school trips and volunteers in school clinics or any school programs should be fingerprinted Level 2. Overnight chaperones and clinic volunteers may obtain standard guest tags/badge given by the designated school where they will be stationed. Student Teachers/Observers/Field Placement/ Retired teachers/principals and university supervisors if not already cleared at Level 2 screening via the university, must clear Level 2 fingerprint clearance and must obtain standard guest tags/badge given by the designated school where they will be stationed. Any group or entity, that leases a school facility, and their personnel, are subject to fingerprint and background screening if they are permitted access on school grounds when students are present or have direct contact with students. LEVEL 1 SCREENING REQUIRED Guest Speakers / Fundraisers / Community Organizations / Career Day Speakers / College Sport Recruiters / One-time Service Provider / Organizations Contracted by the UFO Unless a contract exists with the university, individuals falling into these categories only require a Level 1 screening . Level 1 screening includes checking the name of the individual against the sexual predator and local criminal database. Steps for this process are as follows: All guest speakers who volunteer (not for pay) their time at a school do not need to be fingerprinted – only Level 1 Screening required.
